Team BMC with five riders to Les Gets World Cup
World Cups are following each other rapidly in June and the first week of July, with the sixth round of World Series racing in Les Gets this weekend. Team BMC travels to the French Alps with five riders.
There has been a one-week break from racing after Crans-Montana, which hosted the fifth round of World Cup XC racing. It was a week for the Team BMC riders to put in some heavy training towards Les Gets. It will be a race of great importance, particularly for former French national champion Titouan Carod.
Carod’s fellow countryman, Jordan Sarrou, is not joining Team BMC in Les Gets. He misses the World Cup in his home country as he prioritizes his preparation for Paris. The French champion is at an altitude training camp while his teammates are racing in the French Alps. Therefore, all eyes will be on the two-time World Cup winner in Les Gets.
In addition, Juri Zanotti and Maxime L’Homme will be aiming to finish in the top 10 of the race in Les Gets. Zanotti (18th in Crans-Montana) was quite happy with his result, stating it had been a ‘tough week’. “After a weekend without racing, I feel prepared to go again in Les Gets.”
For L’Homme, this seems to be a realistic goal after a strong performance in Crans-Montana. “I felt a bit bitter, as I felt comfortable racing in the top 10 in Crans-Montana, but a crash that resulted in a mechanical issue made it hard to reach my goals with all those steep downhills on the course in Switzerland. I am confident that in Les Gets, I can finish in the top 10.”
Last but not least, Janis Baumann and Steffi Häberlin will be looking to continue growing into the season. They are both aiming for a stronger result than in Crans-Montana.
