Trentin's winning sprint in Stage 4 of Tour de Wallonie results in leader's Jersey
Tudor Pro Cycling's Matteo Trentin won the fourth stage of the Tour de Wallonie. This victory, his first in a Tudor jersey, propelled him into the lead of the general classification with one day of racing remaining.
Trentin has been a strong contender from the beginning of the race, held in the French-speaking region of Belgium. He finished in the top 10 in the second stage and improved his result in the third stage, finishing third.
“Thanks to the whole team, everything came together today," Trentin commented after the finish. "Honestly, getting the leader’s jersey was a secondary goal, as we knew that winning the stage could result in securing the jersey. Everything went according to plan. We rode smart, and the team set me up perfectly."
"Tomorrow we will analyze the stage to ensure we bring it home. I understand there's a steep climb, but I have yet to investigate it further."
The Tudor Pro Cycling Italian rider now holds a six-second lead over the runner-up in the general classification. Trentin is also the new leader in the points classification.
