Sam Dickinson secured a fantastic victory at the European Triathlon Cup in Kielce. In addition, BMC triathlete Julie Derron won in Rapperwil her 'home 70.3 Iron Man', making it a successful weekend for BMC in the triathlon scene.
Dickisnon dominated his semifinal earlier in the (Sun)day. In the final, Dickinson exited the water in 3rd place and was one of the driving forces in the lead group on the bike. After a perfectly executed transition, Sam set off as part of a leading quartet. Dickinson produced a blistering sprint finish to go clear in the final 200 meters and take an impressive victory ahead of Henry Graf and BMC-ambassador Jonny Brownlee.
Dickinson started his grand final with a strong swim and exited the water in 3rd place. After a fast transition, Sam found himself in the lead group and often at the head of a front pack of five men, relentlessly forcing the pace through the bike leg. Heading into transition with a small gap on the first chase group, Sam set off for a blistering run.
In the end, it came down to the final 200 meters, when Dickinson produced one final finishing kick to force his way clear of Brownlee and Germany’s Henry Graf.
Dickinson really laid it all on the line to come home in front of Graf, with Brownlee just three seconds back in third. A fantastic performance from the BMC athlete to claim the top step in Poland.
